For Sale: Zavalita by Zavata out of Cinnamon Light

UPDATE: See how Zavalita's half-brother, Hartmans Komet (I swear we did not name him), did in his first race in 2013 in a $34,500 first-level allowance at Indiana Downs on April 26th: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/race/USA/IND/2013/4/26/4/race-4. Zavalita's half-brother backed up his second place finish on April 26th with another second place finish (to a stake-placed horse) in a $34,500 allowance at Indiana Downs on May 11th: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/race/USA/IND/2013/5/11/5/race-5.

Zavalita is a two-year old registered Indiana-sired and Indiana-bred (See registration at http://www.in.gov/hrc/files/tb_foals_2011.pdf) filly by Zavata out of Cinnamon Light (Colony Light). Zavalita was born on April 15, 2011, and she's grown into an athletic looking specimen at a legitimate 16+ hands. We're looking for the right person to take her to the next phase of her soon-to-be racing career. Take a look at her pedigree at http://freepdfhosting.com/df6f558fec.pdf, but more importantly, take a look at her and then call us at 317-626-6799.

Zavalita has been under tack at Highpointe Training Center for the last 90 days. Until mid-May she will be turned out, also at Highpointe, to give her a short break. Zavalita has taken to her training well with no set backs, and we have her on a schedule that would get her to a starting gate by September. As big as she is, she is quite coordinated, very handy and has a nice stride. Below are a few videos from our April 4th visit. In the video of her training, Zavalita is on the outside of the two.

Pictures of Zavalita as she has grown over the years are available at http://www.redheartfarm.com/p/horses-for-sale.html.

The Sire - http://i.bloodhorse.com/stallion-register/pdfs/zavata.pdf
Zavata, the sire of 2010 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile winner Dakota Phone, moved to Indiana fairly late in the breeding season in 2010. So, there are only six Zavata foals in his first Indiana crop, and Zavalita is the best one of them by far. In his second year in Indiana, Zavata was bred to 41 mares.

The Mare - See her pedigree at: http://freepdfhosting.com/0fb7f0562e.pdf
Cinnamon Light (Colony Light's AEI is 1.01) has produced four foals with three of them racing age, two to race with both being winners. Baltersan, a five-year old by Castledale, has won over $51,000 (AEI of 1.46), and Hartmans Komet, a four-year old by Killenaule, has won over $20,000 (AEI of 1.10). Her two-year old by Sun King is expected to make her first start in 2013, and she's produced a good looking yearling by Hold Me Back in 2012.

The Opportunity - http://www.redheartfarm.com/p/indiana-program.html
Simply put, a good Indiana-sired horse has more opportunities to run in Indiana than an Indiana-bred. And, that means greater potential for return on investment. While 47% of the 1045 races run in Indiana in 2012 were restricted to Indiana-breds, one-third of the allowance portion of the restricted program, including maiden special weight races, are written specifically for only Indiana-sired horses. (In 2012, the lowest purse for an Indiana-sired maiden special weight race paid the winning owner $20,400.) Plus, there is a stakes series specifically for just Indiana-sired horses.

Lady Heroine Bred To Stephen Got Even

Today, our Lady Heroine, a stakes-producing mare by Sea Hero, was bred to Lane's End stallion Stephen Got Even. This was Lady Heroine's second trip to see Stephen Got Even as she did not get in foal on a February 16th cover. We love everything about Stephen Got Even, and so do our friends at TrueNicks. Take a look at how this mating looks on paper: http://freepdfhosting.com/d645332a60.pdf

Cinnamon Light Bred To Spanish Steps

Today, our Cinnamon Light (Colony Light out of Village Fair) was bred to Indiana stallion Spanish Steps who is a full brother to Unbridled's Song. Spanish Steps was the leading sire in Indiana in 2012 and was ranked 75th nationally with over $3.9 million in progeny earnings. Spanish Steps is the sire of Breeders Cup Turf Champion Little Mike. We see Spanish Steps as well worth his $5,000 stud fee for 2013, especially considering the advantages that a good Indiana-sired horse has within the Indiana program. For more details on the Indiana program follow this link: http://www.redheartfarm.com/p/indiana-program.html

For more information on Spanish Steps check out his Stallion Register page at: http://www.bloodhorse.com/stallion-register/stallions/135406/spanish-steps.
